The Ladder
It’s hard to keep your grip on hope
When every breath’s a sigh
It’s hard to know who you can trust
When even mirrors lie
It’s tough to dream when you can’t sleep;
It’s tough to climb out of the deepest
Holes we stumble into.
I can’t do it for you.
But I can place for you
A ladder by your feet
Five truths with which you can defeat
The demons within and without:
You’re valuable
You’re stronger than you know
You are enough
It will be ok
The Best is Yet to Come.
Now I can’t climb it for you
But I will climb it with you
And together I have hope
We’ll see the sun again.
